Job Summary:
Lead and manage daily operations of a retail pharmacy, ensuring safe, efficient dispensing services, compliance with regulations, and high-quality patient care. Oversee staff, inventory, financial performance, and drive continuous improvement in clinical and retail workflows
Responsibilities:
- Supervisory Leadership
- Supervise, train, and mentor pharmacists, technicians, and support staff.
- Recruit, interview, evaluate performance, and deliver feedback.
- Operations Patient Care
- Ensure accurate, timely dispensing of prescriptions and meeting safety protocols.
- Provide medication counseling, immunizations, and manage drug therapy optimization.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to improve therapeutic outcomes.
- Inventory Compliance
- Oversee inventory procurement, including controlled substances, and maintain stock levels.
- Enforce storage standards, expiration tracking, and manage regulatory documentation for controlled drugs.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, accreditation, and security standards.
- Financial Management Administration
- Manage budgets, forecast demand, monitor expenses, and drive revenue growth
- Handle insurance billing, claims processing, and optimize formulary adherence.
- Maintain required documentationbudgets, performance metrics, licensing renewals.
- Quality Process Improvement
- Develop, review, and implement pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Lead quality assurance initiatives aimed at reducing medication errors.
- Introduce new clinical services (e.g., MTM, immunization clinics) and track outcomes.
- Customer Experience
- Ensure high patient satisfactionaddress feedback, resolve complaints, maintain store appearance.
- Engage in community outreach and promote new in-store pharmacy services.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
- PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) or equivalent degree.
- Active pharmacist license in practicing state.
- Preferred: Immunization certification
- Minimum 5 years pharmacy practice with at least 2 years supervisory experience.
- Proven experience in retail pharmacy operations; exposure to clinical or hospital workflows a plus.
Education: PharmD required; advanced degree (MS, MHA, MBA, or MPH) preferred..
Licenses / Certifications: Current NYS pharmacist license required, or eligible to obtain within 90 days of hire.
